Pietà 2.0

Pietà 2.0

This contemporary and spiritual dance performance, inspired by Michelangelo’s iconic Pietà sculpture, explores themes of human connection and hope for a brighter future. It merges Marion Crampe’s masterful aerial artistry with Ziya Azazi’s innovative modern whirling dance.

Ziya Azazi shares his vision for the project, stating: “We are reimagining the timeless bond between the divine and the human in a way that resonates with the challenges of our world today, placing an emphasis on hope. Rather than focusing on Christ’s death, Pietà 2.0 envisions his ascension to heaven alongside his mother. This performance is about the possibility that humanity can transcend its current limits through unity and awareness.”

Pietà 2.0 delves into a variety of relationships—between mother and son, father and daughter, lovers, friends, or children—demonstrating how individuals can support each other in rising to new heights. The performance imagines a future where humanity connects more deeply with the divine, unlocking a greater collective potential.

Drawing inspiration from Nietzsche’s philosophy—“Man is something that must be overcome”—and Rumi’s teaching that “Love is the force that unites and elevates us,” Pietà 2.0 bridges existential thought and mystical insight to present a powerful vision of human transcendence.

Pietà 2.0 invites audiences on a profound journey of self-reflection, exploring the transformative potential of unity, love, and shared consciousness. It inspires us to believe that, even amidst challenges, humanity can collectively rise to new heights of civilization and spiritual awareness.
