DERVISH

Dervish is a performance where Ziya Azazi's first two works, Azab and Dervish in Progress, are exhibited together. It is a work in which the four levels of Sufism are the subject.

Azab describes the ordeal of someone who reaches the truth by passing through the first two of the four levels (sharia and tariqa) in Sufism. Ultimately, sitting cross-legged also symbolises the preparation of oneself for ingenuity.

Dervish in Progress is a solo that deals with the "ingenuity" of the last stage of life, which is also the subject of Sufism that deals with the individual's comprehension at this level. This performance is Ziya Azazi's first solo in his individual art career as a result of 5 years of research on whirling. His work has been exhibited in 45 countries to date, forms the basis of today's DIP terminology and philosophy, and lays the groundwork for the structuring of various workshops and trainings.
